Oak House is a newly established 3-bedroom Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) children’s home located in the heart of Solihull, West Midlands. Our home provides a safe, warm, and nurturing environment for up to 3 young people aged 8-17 who may have experienced trauma, loss, or disruption in their lives.

Freshly refurbished to the highest standard, Oak House combines the comfort of a real family home with the professional standards expected of a quality children’s residential setting. Every room has been thoughtfully designed to create a calm, therapeutic environment where young people can feel secure and begin their journey of recovery.

Our dedicated team of experienced care professionals are trained in trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches, ensuring that every young person receives individualised support tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Our Approach at Oak House

At Oak House, we use an integrated therapeutic approach that draws on evidence-based models to support young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties:

  • Trauma-Informed Care: We understand that behaviour is communication. Our team is trained to look beyond challenging behaviour to understand the underlying trauma and respond with empathy and consistency.
  • PACE Model: Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy form the foundation of our daily interactions, creating an atmosphere of safety and connection.
  • Attachment Theory: We provide consistent, reliable caregiving relationships that help young people develop secure attachments and trust in adults.
  • Restorative Practice: When things go wrong, we focus on repairing relationships rather than punishment, helping young people learn accountability and empathy.

Each young person has a personalised care plan developed in collaboration with them, their social worker, and other professionals. We regularly review progress and adapt our approach to ensure we’re meeting their evolving needs.

A Day at Oak House

Life at Oak House is designed to feel as close to a normal family home as possible, while providing the structure and support our young people need:

  • Morning: Wake-up support, breakfast together, school preparation and transport
  • Daytime: Education support, 1:1 key worker sessions, therapeutic activities
  • Afternoon: After-school activities, homework support, community engagement
  • Evening: Family-style dinner, recreational time, life skills activities
  • Weekends: Planned activities, outings, hobbies, family contact, relaxation

We encourage young people to participate in local clubs, sports, and activities to build friendships and develop new skills. Solihull offers excellent amenities, parks, and community resources right on our doorstep.
